auawirleben 2025 | TALK: a 2025 curatorial experiment

auawirleben Theaterfestival Bern 2025 – with a festival centre in transformation.

For the 2025 edition of aua, there are the same and the extraordinary, the second of which is the collaboration with Dan Daw & Liz Counsell from Dan Daw Creative Projects (DDCP). As co-curators, the two of them, together with aua co-director Nicolette Kretz, did shape the programme for the first and only time, as a curatorial experiment. DDCP is a theatre and performance company from England, run by disabled artists, that plays a pioneering role in creating accessible productions and events.
The talk reports on the attempt to continue and deepen the relationship between artists and organizers by working together as equals over the course of an entire year. It is about the softening of gatekeeper positions, trust in expertise – and certainly also about queerness, cripness and sexiness!
